Over the past 10 years, South Bronx United (SBU) has grown to serve more than 1,100 boys and girls annually on the soccer field and in the classroom. Programs combine academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs,  immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports with recreational and competitive soccer.

SBU
continues to reach children as young as four years old and provide support services that continue for many alumni into their early twenties.  In the past six years, 100% of SBU Academy seniors have gone on to graduate high school and 94% have enrolled in college. The college readiness rate of our graduates is nearly three-times higher than the district average. 167 young adults call themselves SBU Academy alumni. SBU helps children and families access opportunities for a better life. In this time, SBU has managed more than 200 immigration legal services cases. More than 300 volunteers, coaches, staff, and board members make this work possible on a daily basis

South Bronx United was recognized by the U.S. Soccer Foundation as the 2018 Urban Soccer Symposium Impact Award recipient and has been featured in many prominent press outlets including Sports Illustrated, ESPN Deportes, Telemundo, the Chicago Tribune, NPR, New York Daily News, ABC News, NBC News, Al Jazeera, MLSsoccer.com, and others.

A piece of art made by the students in SBU's Karen Barth Art's Program.

“This masterpiece represents all of us as a
community and unites us. For instance, we drew a
soccer ball, which connects all of us together. Our
piece is about community, love and happiness. In the
center is the SBU logo, which means a lot to us.”
