South Bronx United (SBU) is a nonprofit youth development organization with a mission of using soccer as a tool for social change. SBU serves more than 1,300 young people annually through programs on the soccer field, in the classroom, and in the community. Founded in 2009, the organization's programs combine academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs,  immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports with recreational and competitive soccer programs.

The SBU Academy, the organization's highest-touch program, aims to provide immigrant and first generation youth with a path from middle school to high school to college and careers.  Within the past five years, 100 percent of SBU Academy seniors have graduated high school and 95 percent have enrolled in college. In comparison, only half of students attending South Bronx high schools receive their diplomas.

In 2020 SBU accepted the Laureus Sport for Good Award in Berlin, Germany. SBU was honored by the U.S. Soccer Foundation as the 2018 Urban Soccer Symposium Impact Award recipient and has been featured in many prominent press outlets including Sports Illustrated, ESPN Deportes, Telemundo, the Chicago Tribune, NPR, New York Daily News, ABC News, NBC News, Al Jazeera, MLSsoccer.com, and others. South Bronx United is the official charity partner of NYC Footy, a collection of thousands of players from all walks of life, coming together on and off the pitch to enjoy the beautiful game. NYC Footy began in Brooklyn in 2010. Three friends that met on a free agent team came together to offer something better. Better jerseys, better customer service, better website, a better commitment to social, and a commitment towards inclusiveness. In short, a better vibe.

NYC Footy has leagues that accommodate beginners on up to advanced players. As the league approaches 10,000 players in New York City, they continue to expand programming to accommodate the needs of the community. This includes Footy Fitness, a soccer fitness & skills program, as well as two annual tournaments, the Governors Cup and the Footy Fest. Learn more at nycfooty.com.
