Since 2009 South Bronx United (SBU) has addressed a lack of services for youth in the South Bronx, by combining soccer with academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs, immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports. When I learned about their work, I committed to raise funds for these programs by running the NYC Marathon with a promise of raising $100 per mile. If you would like to join me in supporting youth in the South Bronx, please click on the Donate button at the top of the page. One hundred percent of your donation goes directly to SBU to immediately impact the lives of children in their programs.
Each year, SBU helps more than 1,300 young people, beginning at age four and all the way through college, participate in programs leading to a 100% high school graduation rate and 94% college matriculation rate, nearly double the rates for other South Bronx youths. College-readiness rates of graduates are three-times the rate of their peers. To read more about these programs go to https://southbronxunited.org/programs
With your support, together we can make a difference!
