My story with South Bronx United begins at the end of 2016. I googled "volunteer Bronx" wanting to give back to the community in which I live and do business. Sure enough, South Bronx United's page came up first. I was intrigued by their mission to use sports and education to help enrich the immigrant community of the South Bronx. Four years later, I find myself increasing my involvement by running for SBU in this year's marathon.

The Bronx is the epicenter of a global pandemic and is seeing peaceful protests, along with rioting and looting. This amazingly diverse community is in dire need. This community needs your help. Please support my run.

Now, more than ever, New York City, and the rest of the world, needs our help. This year's NYC marathon may be the most significant one in history. Between the tragedy of a virus and a strive to change our society for the good.

As we try adjusting to a new normal, it is important to strive in a positive direction. I am proud to represent South Bronx United (SBU), a truly meaningful cause that is deeply important to me.

South Bronx United (SBU) is a nonprofit youth development organization with a mission of using soccer as a tool for social change. More than 1,300 young people, beginning at age four and all the way through college, will have participated in programs this year on the soccer field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Founded in 2009 to address a lack in youth athletic programs in the South Bronx, the organization's programs have grown to combine soccer with academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs, immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports. The SBU Academy has a 100% high school graduation rate and 94% college matriculation rate. College-readiness rates of graduates are three-times the rate of their peers.  In 2020, SBU aims to begin a new phase of growth to engage more young people in its programs.
