Thanks for finding my donation page. The foundation match has ended but all donations to this page are still matched by me dollar for dollar. There is a brief description of what SBU is about below. You can find out more at southbronxunited.org
I have been volunteering at SBU since the first year I moved to New York in 2016. I have seen enough of what they do over that time to be very confident in saying that every dollar donated will go to making a real difference in a young person’s life. Andrew, Jessica, Bridget and so many more of the great people at SBU really care about the young people they are helping and just as importantly they are really good at their jobs. Let’s help them as much as we can.
South Bronx United (SBU) is a nonprofit youth development organization with a mission of using soccer as a tool for social change. More than 1,300 young people, beginning at age four and all the way through college, will have participated in programs this year on the soccer field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Founded in 2009 to address a lack in youth athletic programs in the South Bronx, the organization's programs have grown to combine soccer with academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs, immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports. The SBU Academy has a 100% high school graduation rate and 94% college matriculation rate. College-readiness rates of graduates are three-times the rate of their peers. In 2020, SBU faces new challenges but remains steadfast in its mission to provide opportunity and support for its young people.
Improving the 6-year graduation rate of SBU alumni is an important new initiative that is particularly important to me and one that your donation will help support.
This cause is very dear to me, and I appreciate support in all amounts. Together we can make a difference. Thank you and stay well.
