Welcome to Angie's SBU NYC Marathon Fundraiser

Angie Mulcahy

Angie Mulcahy

I’m beyond excited to announce that I’ll be running the 2022 TCS NYC Marathon in November for South Bronx United (SBU)! Running a marathon has always been a bucket list item and I’m grateful to be running in support of such an awesome organization.

As many of you know, I’ve played team sports since a very young age and I could not be more thankful for the experiences, the people and the places sports have brought me. Through sports I’ve grown and learned numerous lessons that I carry with me today. The athletic programs I’ve been involved in have taught me respect, leadership, perseverance, teamwork, motivation, and even a little healthy competition.

Since the Spring of 2021, I’ve gotten to spend my Saturday mornings with the most amazing 6- and 7-year old’s who participate in South Bronx United’s recreational youth soccer program (we call ourselves the Silver Queens👸). I spend this time trying to model what I've learned while also scoring a win. I support South Bronx United because of all their hard work to ensure kids in the area have access to an athletic program that is eager to promote them on and off the field.

I’m honored to be running for SBU and appreciate all your support - whether it be a monetary donation, words of encouragement or cheering from the sidelines on November 6th! 🏃‍♀️

Your friend,
Angie

Learn more about SBU below.

South Bronx United (SBU) is a nonprofit youth development organization with a mission of using soccer as a tool for social change. More than 1,300 young people, beginning at age four and all the way through college, will have participated in programs this year on the soccer field, in the classroom, and in the community.

Founded in 2009 to address a lack in youth athletic programs in the South Bronx, the organization's programs have grown to combine soccer with academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs, immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports. The SBU Academy has a 100% high school graduation rate and 94% college matriculation rate. College-readiness rates of graduates are three-times the rate of their peers.

As the South Bronx has disproportionately been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, SBU has continued to adapt programs and services to reach more young people and their families in new ways. In 2021, SBU strives toward providing college access programs to 150 additional teens through the Global Youth League, creating a more level playing field by recruiting and retaining more girls across SBU's programs, and creating a home-away-from home for young people to reconnect with their peers, coaches, and staff after a tumultuous year.

This cause is very dear to me, and I appreciate support in all amounts! Together we can make a difference!
