Last summer, I spent 6 weeks with South Bronx United (SBU) coaching in their Summer Soccer Scholars Program, working with boys in 8th-11th grades. Not only did I totally fall for the kids, but I fell for the organization and the impact SBU makes on the kids' lives. These kids need structure, competitive outlets, role models, and a vision of themselves succeeding. SBU provides that and more, both on the field and in the classroom. This year I have joined the Supports Club Board, the organization's junior board, so I can continue positively influencing the SBU as it moves into it's second decade of bringing immense impact to the youth in the south Bronx. I thank you for your donation and support and I assure you these dollars make a real difference.

About the organization: SBU is a nonprofit youth development organization with a mission of using soccer as a tool for social change. SBU serves more than 1,100 boys and girls annually through programs on the soccer field, in the classroom, and in the community. Founded in 2009, the organization's programs combine academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs, immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports with recreational and competitive soccer programs. SBU participants range from ages 4 to 19 years old. The majority come from low-income, immigrant families and reside in the South Bronx, the nation's poorest congressional district.
