First, I am a mother — a role model. Then, an educator and advocate for the future athletes, teachers, doctors, and lawyers who will one day lead our communities and make them safe, strong. I run for love. I run for peace. For equality, self-worth, and the determination to rise.
To show our children what it means to show up, to believe, and to never stop dreaming.
If I can do it, you can too. Together, let’s keep running toward the light — and never look back.
SBU has become a big part of my family, our community, and my daughter's happiness. It’s a place where she’s learned to chase her dreams, build confidence, and never give up—on or off the field. The love, dedication, and support we’ve experienced through SBU have made a lasting impact on our lives.
Now, I want to share that same love with the community. Together, we can continue to make a difference—empowering our kids, building stronger families, and creating a positive, lasting legacy.
Here’s a little more about what makes SBU so special.
South Bronx United (SBU) is a nonprofit youth development organization with a mission of using soccer as a tool for social change. More than 1,400 young people, beginning at age four and all the way through college, will have participated in programs this year on the soccer field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Founded in 2009 to address a lack in youth athletic programs in the South Bronx, the organization's programs have grown to combine soccer with academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs, immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports. The SBU Academy has a 100% high school graduation rate and 94% college matriculation rate. College-readiness rates of graduates are three-times the rate of their peers.
This cause is very dear to me, and I appreciate support in all amounts! Together we can make a difference!
