Throughout my involvement with one of SBU's partners, NYC Footy and more recently, attending the 2024 SBU Charity Gala, I’ve witnessed firsthand the profound work and incredible impact South Bronx United has on the community.
I truly believe that each of us is on a quest to find purpose, and South Bronx United offers these young people the tools, guidance, and opportunities they need to discover theirs.
It’s heartbreaking to know that some kids are denied access to the same quality education that others take for granted—when every child deserves the right to learn, grow, and thrive, no matter background.
This is exactly why I feel compelled to give back, to contribute in every way I can, and to be part of the powerful change that South Bronx United is driving.

South Bronx United (SBU) is a nonprofit youth development organization with a mission of using soccer as a tool for social change. More than 1,400 young people, beginning at age four and all the way through college, will have participated in programs this year on the soccer field, in the classroom, and in the community.
Founded in 2009 to address a lack in youth athletic programs in the South Bronx, the organization's programs have grown to combine soccer with academic enrichment, college prep, mentoring, leadership development, health and wellness programs, immigration legal services, and other family and youth supports. The SBU Academy has a 100% high school graduation rate and 94% college matriculation rate. College-readiness rates of graduates are three-times the rate of their peers.
